Unprecedented matching grant plan initiated by Edmond J. Safra foundation leads to €10 Million in fundraising for Clinatec, French Biomedical Research Center, for pioneering therapies

November 2016 -- The funds will contribute to research & treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, cancer and motor disabilities.

Clinatec is a unique biomedical research center applying pioneering techniques, with the use of near-infrared light to treat Parkinson’s disease or of mentally-driven exoskeletons to help quadriplegics walk again.

The Edmond J. Safra Foundation launched the campaign in October 2015, pledging to match up to €5 million in donations.

“I never doubted that this matching fundraising campaign would be a success,” Mrs. Lily Safra, president of the Edmond J. Safra foundation, commented. “Prof. Alim Louis Benabid and Clinatec’s teams are working on breakthrough projects and carrying so much hope! Created five years ago, Clinatec already has earned its place among the best medical innovative research centers.”
