Building a Parkinson’s Wellness Program: Step by Step

The Edmond J. Safra National Parkinson’s Wellness Initiative (Click link for video) extends Parkinson’s care beyond the walls of the clinic.

It uses a unique, medical-community partnership approach – pairing a Jewish Community Center (JCC) with a Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence – to create inclusive, welcoming community hubs for people affected by Parkinson’s around the country. This video highlights how deeply impactful the program is for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners. Staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and JCC Boston collaborated to build, “step by step,” a program that delivers exercise, support, education, and socialization opportunities for people affected by Parkinson’s in the greater Boston area. The initiative is also available in Chicago, New York, Tampa, and Rockville, MD.

The initiative is made possible through a generous grant from the Edmond J. Safra Foundation. The Parkinson’s Foundation, the Fresco Institute for Parkinson’s and & Movement Disorders at NYU Langone Medical Center, and JCC Manhattan are national program partners.
